Thomas is currently pursuing his J.D. at the Elizabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University in White Plains, NY hoping to specialize in environmental law. More recently, Thomas joined the Firat Education team in July 2020 as a Junior College Admissions Consultant. Under Chief Educational Consultant Ibrahim Firat’s guidance, Thomas plans to obtain his “Senior” status in the near future.
Thomas has reviewed over 6,000 high school and college applications combined, including several international ones. He has also conducted over 1,000 college and secondary school interviews and has traveled and visited high schools and college in 17 states across the United States. Thomas knows what college admissions representatives are looking for.
A Connecticut native, Thomas attended public school his entire life until college, and had to rely mostly on himself to help him manage the college search process. His love of working with adolescents and genuine belief in the transformative experience of college, led him to pursue admission work. Thomas has a love of connecting with students, and especially enjoys helping students through the writing process for their college essays as well as helping them prepare for their college interviews! Thomas is passionate about the environment, loves spending time outside, is a self-proclaimed coffee addict, and an Italophile!
Thomas has spent the better part of the past decade working in various admission roles throughout the United States. He completed two professional internships at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in conservation education before beginning his chapter in college admissions serving as an Admission Counselor at his alma mater, Bard, for two years. He was then the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admission at Fairfield University. After five years in college admissions, he took a quick departure to work in the corporate world and was a Campus Recruiter for EY, one of the “big four” accounting firms. He returned to admission work at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL and eventually found his way back to Connecticut, as the Assistant Director of Admission at Choate Rosemary Hall, a well-known boarding and day independent school in Wallingford, CT.
During his long tenure in college, secondary, and law school admissions, he has also continued to pursue professional development opportunities and has attended numerous conferences and has held membership with many organizations including: NACAC, IACAC, NEACAC, AISAP, LSAC, and EMA. During his time at Choate, Thomas was a member of the Driving Equity at Choate faculty committee which helped lead and organize diversity, equity, and inclusion work on campus. He was also an adviser to several Junior and Senior students and advised students in the Environmental Immersion Program at the Kohler Environmental Center.
Thomas received his Bachelor of Arts in environmental studies from Bard College in 2010 and his Master of Public Administration in nonprofit management from Fairfield University in 2016. Thomas is looking forward to working with students based in Fairfield County (in person) or all over the country (online) with applying to secondary (boarding or day) schools as well as high school students applying to colleges and universities! high
